It is possible

Developing community leadership for youth in Uganda

The Nikibasika Development Program began in 2006 as a home and development program for 52 orphaned and vulnerable youth in Kasese Uganda. Nikibasika means “it is possible”, and our focus is to help these youth adults become self-sustaining leaders in their communities.  Each participant is supported with formal education beyond secondary school, and more important, with leadership development, career guidance, and global and human rights awareness.

Of the original 52 children and youth in the project, all but 15 have graduated. Our graduates are all making a profound difference in their communities, working across a wide range of careers — from NGOs and community organizations, to trades like plumbing and electrical engineering, working for international companies in project management and logistics.

Today we are continuing to provide support for the youth who are finishing high school and post-secondary training, along with supporting the many meaningful projects of our youth and graduates.

Special projects

There are many ways to support the work of Nikibasika, from funding the schooling of the remaining youth to support for the grassroots community projects they are connected with.
