Nikibasika is an all volunteer organization, with nearly 100% of the funds raised going directly to the project in Uganda, where we employ two local staff. The vast majority of our budget is for school fees and living expenses for the youth in the project. The only money spent in Canada is for the unavoidable costs of maintaining a legal charity, bank fees, etc.
Special projects
Our community has given us a nest egg that will support the basic needs of the remaining youth in the program until they graduate. However, Covid19 has created many special needs: supporting Smith’s medical clinic and the children he’s adopted; supporting the children of the Kasese community who are suffering because of the lockdown and flooding; and supporting the recently launched graduates who haven’t yet earned any savings but who have lost their income because of Covid. Any support during this time is welcome, and will receive full tax receipt status.
